Review: Loot Crate Exclusive Vault Boy Bobblehead Fallout 4

I’m a big fan of the Fallout series. I’ll admit, I’ve only played the newer games, but it’s rare that a game can keep my attention for over 80 hours (Fallout 4, not even including the expansions). It didn’t take long for me to figure out what the obvious collectible for this series was: bobbleheads were all over the artwork for the game and served as collectibles in-game to grant the player bonuses. The one I picked up for $11.89 on Amazon was the Loot Crate Exclusive Vault Boy Bobblehead Fallout 4.

The Loot Crate Bobblehead’s pose is not one that is found in any of the games. With his arms on his hips, this Vault Boy’s pose is most similar to the Charisma bobblehead in game, the only difference being that the Charisma bobblehead gives a thumbs up with his right hand. On the back, we can see that the Vault Boy is wearing a jumpsuit from Vault 111 (Energy Resistance +5 and Radiation Resistance +10!), which is the home of the Sole Survivor in Fallout 4.

The bobblehead definitely feels solid. It has some heft to it, and despite being plastic, it’s easy to tell that the material is not fragile. The paint is not perfect, with some uneven color divisions on the jumpsuit, but it’s not really noticeable unless you look for it. The bobble spring is fairly sensitive; if I shake the desk it’s standing on ever so slightly, the Vault Boy’s head will bobble for a good 10 seconds. On the other hand, if you try to bobble the head manually, the spring is strong and it will take some force to move the head to its fully tilted position. It’s the best of both worlds.

Like I said, I bought this from Amazon, even though this was Bethesda’s contribution to a Loot Crate. So it’s “exclusive” only in the sense that you can’t buy it directly from Bethesda’s online store (at least right now). The price on Amazon fluctuates, but $12 is slightly cheaper than those from Bethesda, and it’s clearly as genuine as its non-exclusive counterparts. The Loot Crate Exclusive Vault Boy Bobblehead is a solid addition to any Fallout fan’s collection.
